April 2009

Hello Earth Person,

Today is earth day 2009!

Did you know that millions of PCs are kept on day and night, contributing to global warming because people don't care enough to find out or are too busy or lazy to what is good for the Earth?

Here are some tips to really celebrate and save the earth in this ever growing need for having the latest and greatest.

Earth Day 2009!

1) Turn off office PCs when you are done for the day! Besides saving energy, it will not be adding heat load for the air conditioning. It's the green thing to do!

2) Plan on using PCs and peripherals longer than depreciation schedule of the IRS. A well maintained PC can last well beyond 5 years, saving tons of landfill space. When you do replace it, recycle it responsibly. We can give you ideas as to how/where to dispose it off!

3) Just because new computers seem to be ever cheaper, don't get tempted to throw your old PC out the moment it hiccups. First, a good capable PC will always cost more than what the promotional pricing says. Then secondly, more than likely, the new PC will have a new operating system, which may require upgrades to software and peripherals, causing the price tag to get even higher. Third, there is always aggravation when migrating to a new PC. Fourth, it is always less $Green$ to get your old PC repaired than replacing it with a new one.

4) When you do replace your PC, never go for the unit matching the minimum advertised price. You will get a longer lasting PC if you invest a bit more and get quality components.

5) If everyone kept their computer working for one more year, we will save millions of lbs of Carbon. And you, dear reader, will do what is right for the earth and your pocket-book.

And that's good news for this Earth Day!!

There are some good things about replacing that old PC...

New technology is greener- it invariably uses less energy. Look for Energy Star 4.0 label when you buy a new PC.

New technology is faster (of course- but sometimes it does not feel so, because each version of software demands more.

Are we biased? Not really. REPAIR or REPLACE your technology- either way, we are there to help you should you need us. We'll even help you decide! That's the idea behind the "Helpers" in our name.
